Day 10 - Benches, murals and biscuits.
We're half way there! Today, once again, we had the same breakfast of eggs or jam on toast followed by some speedy bench making of which we only had two left to make. Once we were done, we loaded Howard's truck with all the benches and headed down to the school to get a speedy painting session in. After that we had a lunch of noodles accompanied by Rosie and Ella carrying out an geography interview with a Malaysian lady who had acquired a microfinance loan to build her jewellery and honey making businesses. Her Samsung phone started ringing halfway through making it slightly awkward but still highly beneficial for future geographers.
For the second time today, we wet back down to the school to finally finish our project. A lot of paint has been spilled so parents at home we hope your excited for a lovely load of washing. Raffy's sweet little friend came back but unfortunately we had to politely decline the pleas to play so we could get our project done. Somehow, Josie confused a book and a planet for a boombox. Luckily we changed it because I don't think a purple boombox is part of the school logo. Josie also managed to spill white paint on a little girls clean black school trousers and shoes. The girl was so sweet an lovely trying to reassure Josie that she could wash it out. Little does she know that oil paint never comes out...
Once we had finished the preschool hosted a thank you assembly for us, giving us shortbread, fanta and certificate of appreciation (Miss Searle waned a student to collect the certificate but was hut down by a harsh "no" from the teachers. Finn also gave a half hearted speech. But we forgive him as it was one the spot and he believes it was amazing so we will leave it at that.
After a long day of work, we headed back to camp and everyone put in the work to clean, shower and head to the shop just like every other night to treat ourselves to ice-creams. Surely the shop keeper thinks we are all such a greedy group. Today sounds pretty much the same as the others however we are excited for a morning at the beach tomorrow. Btw Patrick is still a little grumpy so can someone pls sort him out and leave words of encouragement and inspiration in the comments to cheer him up. (We think he's missing Mumma Paul 😉.)
We may or may not be watching England vs Argentina at 3AM but t is still undecided so we will update you all in the morning. Early nights ether way you'll all be pleased to know!!
(p.s. Happy Birthday Millie! - Finn and Jules🎉.)
(p.p.s we will upload more pictures tomorrow when our signal is better so be excited.)

Another great blog guys, loving all the updates (besides them making me slightly jealous!) sounds like you’ve all done an amazing job on your project, apart from all the spilled paint! Well done to Finn and Jules for remembering Millie’s birthday too, I’m sure she loved seeing the message. Hope you’re loving your trip so far Jules, we’re all really missing you at home, although it’s nice to have no competition for the snug TV x! Keep the updates coming and enjoy your morning on the beach! PS, I’m sure Patrick is fine, probably just missing his easy doubles and long runs with his best bud xx
I've loved reading your blogs to date and the project sounds like great fun. This time with the locals is always a highlight of expedition in my opinion. I'm looking forward to the next set of blogs and the adventures still to come. X
Great work team 1! It sounds like you’ve been hard at it all day - they’ll be sad to see you go tomorrow. Patrick, I hope your spirits are lifted after a good nights sleep and restorative dip in the sea tomorrow morning. It’ll probably help to be on the move again and doing a bit more sight seeing. I would be exactly the same. There’s no place like home but you’ll all be making some amazing memories. Safe journey tomorrow and I look forward to the next blog - I could read them all day long!! England have just scored! 🙌🏻 xxx
Well done Team 1- you all look very proud of yourselves and so you should be. Glad the life creams are keeping you going. Come on Patrick, chin up mate you can do it! Hope you manage to get to see some of the game- under 40 mins until kick off as I type and unfortunately we can’t get any firm of signal to watch it other than in the hotel bar which is quite full and hot already! Have a nice time at the beach in the morning and look forwards to the next update. Xx
Sounds like you’re still having fun, what an adventure! Glad the diet is a bit more varied. Was impressed to hear of Vi’s haggling skills for your pizza meal the other day. Very quiet here without you and Nancy sends her Love. Loveyoubye Gran and Grandad xxxx
Great productive day Team Numero Uno! I see Billy has sent you his love Patrick! Not sure Archie has even noticed Rosie has gone!!! And remember it could be worse! Sid and I spent the day at the tip!
As Mike says really hope there is video evidence of Finn’s speech! Although maybe it was over too quickly to catch it 😂 Looks like you’ve had a great time and how lovely they put on an assembly for you. What an amazing experience! We need a full face happy and smiling photo of Patrick please. Loving his siblings encouragement!! ❤️ Finn 10/10 for remembering your sisters birthday (unless it was Jules that remembered 😉!) she loved her jellycat xx
Another amazingly productive day Team 1, well done. The recurring breakfast of eggs or jam on toast seems to be doing the trick. Sounds like the mural is fast becoming the 8th wonder of the world! Is it a boom box , is a book – will we ever know?! Most important thing is that the school loves it and its sounds like they really do. Amazing to think it will be there for many years to come. I hope you found time to have a quick game of football with Raffy’s new friend! Come on Paddy boy, pull your leech socks up and get on with having an amazing time! I hope the words of encouragement from your siblings will help to spur you on! We are behind you all the way! Excited to know whether you managed to watch the football or not? Sure Finn can find an internet connection somehow somewhere?! Enjoy the beach tomorrow xxxxx
Loving the blogs guys! Beach looks like paradise, and I can't wait to see the finished mural - purple boom box/ book-globe sounds like it could be a surrealist masterpiece! Hopefully someone filmed Finn's speech... sounds like inspirational stuff. We're all missing you greatly, Jules. Monty & Mable like the look of that tiny beach dog... maybe see if you can get it in your bag? Mega excited for the photo drop. Keep having fun xx PS. what games are you playing to while away the evenings/ bus journeys? PPS. Big love to Paddy Paul, stay strong brother 👊
